Thesis Proposals

The following topics are my proposed topics for thesis:

I. Pygmalion Effect: An Inquiry on the Effect of Principal's Expectation to Teacher Effectiveness and Motivation, on selected PAASCU-Accredited Basic Education Schools.

Statement of the Problem:

This proposed inquiry will analyze the effect of expectation on the part of the Principal (as Instructional Leader) to both the Motivation and Effectiveness of Teachers. This will also investigate on the possibility of other mediating variables on teacher effectiveness and motivation, and how the two dependent variables (Motivation and Effectiveness) are predicted by the use of the independent variables.

Specific points of inquiry are as follows:

1. What is/are the relationship/s of the principal expectations, teacher motivation and teacher effectiveness?

2. What are the effect to motivation and teacher effectiveness of the following variables: sex, age, gender, status, passing of the LET, academic accomplishments, length of stay in the academe and academic position?

3. How is teacher effectiveness and teacher motivation predicted by the variables of the study?

II. The effect of Angelicum's non-graded system to its high school students' motivation

This proposed study will investigate on the effect of a Angelicum's non-graded system to its own high school students' motivation. This will be compared and contrasted on the motivation of high school students of a school with a similar (high) standard with a graded system.

Specific points will be as follows:

1. What is the effect of Angelicum's non-graded system to the motivation of its high school students who started in the same non-graded system?

2. What is the effect of the same non-graded system to those high school students who started from a graded system? How do the levels of motivation of high school students at Angelicum compare between those who started with the non-graded system and those who did not?

3. What is the motivation levels of high school students of a school with a similarly high standard as Angelicum? How do the levels of motivation of high school students in Angelicum, who started with a non-graded system compare with the high school students from other schools?

III. The relationship of positive school culture to student motivation in selected private schools in Laguna.

This proposed study will investigate on the relationship of a positive school culture and climate to student motivation. This will aim to compare and contrast the various selected schools of similar size as to their culture and climate. Further, this will inquire on the motivation of the students, thereby aiming to draw the relationship between the culture and climate of the school, and its student's motivation.

Specific points will be the following:

1. What is the prevailing culture and climate in each of the selected school?
2. What is the level of student motivation for each of the selected school?
3. How do these levels of motivation compare taking into consideration the prevailing culture and climate in each of the school?
